Winter Getaway part 3: Mexico

The third leg of my trip was a quick jaunt into Mexico, up the Yucatan Peninsula. We stayed in Tulum so we could check out the ruins there, then spent a full day in the waters of Xel Ha - a natural water park that cannot be justified with words, so I won't even try. The final three nights were spent in Cancun where we took in some beach time and signed up for a day trip to Chichen Itza and the beautiful Cenotes.

I have to admit that I wasn't overly enchanted by the commercial resort hub that Cancun is designed to be, but it is a decent place to find reasonable accommodation to use as a home base while touring the region. There is so much more to see in the Yucatan and it's easy enough to get around, so I would opt for touring on my own instead of another day tour, but regardless, it was memorable and perfect.
