Living Thrifty

A little while ago I stumbled upon a blog called Looking Fly on a Dime. The writer is all about living thrifty while looking fabulous and even challenged herself to shop strictly at thrift stores for one full year. Apparently she enjoyed it so much she did it for another 365 days the following year. When I read a few of her posts I thought about doing this challenge. I wouldn't expect it to be overly difficult since I tend to do a seasonal shop at thrift stores anyway, but where I do see the challenge is when I'm seeking specific items. I would have to forego the trendy threads and seek an alternative in thrifty shop-therapy. Still, I think I can do it.

So being at the end of 2013 and completely shopped-out from the overwhelming holiday season, I'm going to begin the 365 days challenge of living on a dime as of the first day of the new year.

All clothing and accessories purchased during the period of January 1 to December 31, 2014 must be second-hand. The only exemptions from this rule will be undergarments, socks, and practical items such as running shoes, winter boots, swimsuits and seasonal jackets if required. I will share some of the best thrift finds on the blog and I will confess if and when I mistakenly break the rule.

I try to live on the cheap most days, as I've demonstrated here before, but this should really test my impulsiveness and curve some of that useless spending.

Here's to frugal fashion in the new year!
